Bagheera’s Camp is a unique wildlife-centric eco-tourism initiative nestled in the rugged granite hills and scrub forests of Jawai and Bera in Rajasthan’s Godwar region. Founded by Princess Padmaja Rathore of Jodhpur, the camp embodies her lifelong passion for nature, wildlife conservation, community empowerment, and sustainable tourism.

Our Story

Born into the royal family of Jodhpur, Princess Padmaja’s childhood fascination with the wild blossomed into a lifelong commitment to protecting India’s natural heritage. With a degree in Hotel Management and years of experience in hospitality and travel, she returned to her homeland to create Bagheera’s Camp — not merely as a place to stay, but as a living model of ecological restoration, community partnership, and wildlife appreciation.

The camp takes its name from the majestic black panther Bagheera — a symbol of the untamed spirit of the region and a tribute to the wild heart of Jawai.

Our Mission

At its core, Bagheera’s Camp is a wildlife social enterprise and community reserve dedicated to:

• Rewilding Jawai — restoring native ecosystems, reviving water systems, and rejuvenating grasslands previously degraded by overgrazing.
• Conservation-centric tourism — offering wildlife experiences that respect natural rhythms and foster genuine understanding of the region’s biodiversity, including frequent sightings of leopards and other fauna.
• Community empowerment — training and employing tribal and local people in hospitality, wildlife guiding, language skills, wellness, and conservation practices.
• Water and habitat protection — actively engaging in traditional water-harvesting techniques and sustainable land use to replenish groundwater and wetland habitats.
